Mmmmmmm cheese. My mouth-lust for good cheese rivals only my embarrassingly sick infatuation with McCain Deep & Delicious Vanilla Cake (which I believe was engineered by NASA). That sad and delicious confession aside, I have a huge appreciation for good food and would like to offer my foodie friends something special.
Free tickets to the one and only national cheese show: The Great Canadian Cheese Festival.
My new BFF’s at Cheesewerks invited me to try some of the artisan cheeses that’ll be at TGCCF, and I was floored.
I hate blue cheese.
Hate it.
But I tried this:
And I liked it! Mom! I ate blue cheese!
The quality and care put into the things I tasted was simply phenomenal: the double cream blue cheese made with sheep’s milk and “love” from the maker, the “squeaky” curds made fresh that morning, old cheddar with those tasty tiny crunchy bits inside.
Oh my god.
And guess who’s the OFFICIAL GRILLED CHEESE of the event?
Yeah.
As if the tastes weren’t enough to impress, I was super inspired by the people I got to meet, too.

Filmmaker John Thompson, who’s crossed the country a multitude of times to make his latest documentary, is the guy behind new KendalVale artisan cheese.
Caroline Granger, the lady behind one of the fine local wines that will be at the fest, wanted to grow grapes and be with her children while they were small.
Festival founder and director Georgs Kolesnikovs has a philosophy — he doesn’t do anything he doesn’t love — and he’s been living by it since he was 40.
The show happens on June 1, 2, and 3 in Picton. You can:
